Summer Calling

Looking out the windows here in the forest, the cloudless sky is a vibrant blue. The sun is shining its bright rays across the landscape. The palms and live oaks are lightly jostled by a gentle breeze. And it’s 27 degrees! Winter on Bald Head Island still offers stunning sunsets, peaceful walks, and relaxation. However, summer is calling.

The internal clock on the Island has three phases: Summer (May, June, July, August, September); Feeling like summer (October, November); Summer is calling (December, January, February, March, April). While appreciating the beauty of Bald Head in the winter, it is difficult to deny thoughts of summer. The rippling ocean still glistens in the sunshine, the waves crashing the beaches are still heard in the interior of the island, and the abundance of wildlife continues to thrive during the winter; it is all calling for summer to arrive.

Summer, of course, is when activity on Bald Head reaches its peak. The July 4th celebration and Pirate Invasion weekend have long been fixtures on the summer calendar. In 2025 a new event emerged, the BHI Yacht Club Summer Concert Series. With our clocks set to “summer is calling”, there is great anticipation for the return of the concert series. This truly community event welcomes all to Marina Park to enjoy live music at sunset. (Tentative dates: June 3 & 17; July 1, 15, 29; Aug 5 & 19; Sep 2)

As we enjoy winter’s quiet beauty and the call of summer rings quietly, we look forward to seeing you on the Island at all times of the year. To plan your visit to Bald Head Island, go to Tiffany’s Beach Properties and click on “Explore BHI”. Click here to see our selection of rental properties.
